When Meadowlark started up back in 2016, I was not a Landscape guy. I was 12 years old and really all I wanted was to make enough money to buy myself an Xbox series x and a PS5. See, my friends and family are gamers too but half of them play on one system and the rest play on the other. I couldn’t choose only half of them. I just couldn’t decide. I asked everyone I knew what they thought I should do. Some said to save it till I had enough, Some said they had no idea and its entirely up to me. But one person said I should just buy them both. I thought that sounded good but also unrealistic. But, GOOD. And my curiosity won of course so I asked how that would be possible, since I had just enough for one or the other. So he pulled up Facebook MarketPlace and Craigslist and started showing me used lawn equipment.
It took a little convincing. But he promised to show me how to do it and help me out with all the hard stuff so I committed and I bought myself a backpack blower and a mower. He bought us a weed eater and the next day, he took me around the neighborhood. We knocked on doors for hours asking if we could mow peoples lawn for $20 a pop. It was not fun. I was rejected by everyone up until the last house. I was feeling very defeated. I didn’t even want to knock but he just kept saying ,” it’s alright, we just keep knocking on doors until someone says yes”. So I went up to knock believing I was only wasting my time and that was when Larry opened his front door. I was nervous but I introduced myself and explained what I was doing, ready to be told, “no thank you” for the last time that day.
But he didn’t say no. And Larry became our very first lawn customer that day. And the rest is History.
